Maayong Pag-abot

My journey to teaching Cebuano started when I was still teaching in an online English school for Chinese learners here in Davao City. I love teaching but I have lost my passion for teaching English for beginners so I started to explore different jobs to see where my interest lies.

Then I encountered a job post looking for a Cebuano translator. Since I have experience working with translations, I decided to give it a try and found myself enjoying it. I wanted to do more, but I couldn’t find similar jobs when the project ended.

After that, I started analyzing Cebuano language and looked for books and other learning materials for Cebuano. I eventually learned that there aren’t a lot of materials out there that would teach Cebuano grammar in a way that is easy to understand without the pretentious linguistic terms that are published by the academes.

I uploaded a few videos on YouTube teaching Cebuano. There, my first student found me and requested to have Cebuano lessons. Fast-forward, I have been making lessons and content online for the Cebuano language aiming to help learners about my fascinating native tongue.

My goal in making this website is to help people become really part of the rich Bisaya community by teaching them the Cebuano language and offering learning materials and opportunities. I believe that learning the local language is the best way to integrate yourself into the community.

It’s also my goal to help fellow Bisaya, especially those abroad, to reconnect to their roots and family in the Philippines. Being able to communicate freely with loved ones can help break barriers and develop stronger connections.

More than that, I want to provide people with materials they can use so that one day, Filipino parents will know how to teach their kids the Cebuano language so they can pass on the language to future generations.
